I am very annoyed by this, BUT it might make EV pricing less terrible. That's still a ton more car for your money than you'd get in America, assuming they aren't complete garbage.

The issue is with the battery rental, the owner or government can turn your car off anytime for any or no reason.
Although they can do that with the full car, so you never know. I personally dislike EV cars.
Over 10 years, you'll cough up $15K renting their batteries.

@MCMLXVIIOTG @Zeb Right, and can we realistically expect batteries to last over ten years? I'd say no. Then you factor in general longevity and the fact that either a tech advancement (they are always "ten years away 😇") or the chance of a straight up new vehicle. It's kind of an interesting concept. Not to mention the inflationary aspect, assuming their battery rental price is fixed and that a safe and stable rate of return can be had on holding money vs spending. It could actually work out in the buyer's "favor", again assuming a lot of things happen in the right way.

It might only have 85% capacity, but yeah. I've seen folks suggest 15, and maybe even up to 20 years, as long as capacity isn't a deal breaker. I'd trust a Tesla battery more that a Sumting Wong battery.

@Zeb That price difference though... It might be worth "renting" the battery and earning interest on the money you would pay for the difference assuming it gets you a new battery every X years or whatever. Basically would need to see the battery replacement cost.
