This judge probably ruined the sheriff’s family as much as any tyrant. The sheriff probably knew he wouldn’t likely get justice against the local judge.

So the judge was grooming or worse the sheriff's teenage daughter and he gets to spend the rest of his life in prison for righting that? There may have been more but idk if I'm reading this correctly, something about one of his deputies raping a woman over six months as blackmail.
