Realistically, no employer will jump at the chance to employ a disabled person – and if they do, it’ll be a constant cycle of torture for the worst affected, who will be forced into work that they cannot do.

In six months or less, they’ll have worsened in health and require the services of occupational health. And what is occupational health going to tell them? Quit! Resign! You can’t work after all.

One of Steve’s large canvases from ten years ago he makes more digital work now . He worked on these large scale paintings when he was housebound with an illness that once was thought to be made up and now post covid has more respect. No cure or treatment hey if you know you know. Oh I have it too. He was 29 and a teacher when he fell ill now’s he’s 66. Not been out of Devon since 1992. He’s endured it all and is still a wonderful generous person. #art #disability

Not only is my knee much better, but my brain feels like it's fully on again. We came home May 11th, so it took me less than a month to recover! Three weeks of recovery for one week of fun. Not bad!

Just published a blog post tearing into hCaptcha’s so-called “accessibility” mode.

It’s not accessibility. It’s a cookie. And to get that cookie, you now have to submit your email and send a code via SMS to an U.S. phone number. It fails silently. It doesn’t confirm anything. You click “Confirm Code” and get “An error has occurred.” No cookie. No fallback. No support. And if you somehow get it? It’s a third-party cookie your browser probably blocks, and it expires. Then you get to do it all again.

Meanwhile, hCaptcha’s text-based challenge — the only mode that might actually work with a screen reader — isn’t tied to the cookie at all. It only shows up if the website owner specifically enables it. Most don’t. So even if you’re blind, even if you’re using assistive tech, you get the same unusable image grid as everyone else.

This isn’t accessibility. It’s exclusion wrapped in PR.
