Lyft appears to have updated its app for airport pickups, where you don't match with a driver until your phone's GPS matches the pickup spot.

Clever, except airport pickup spots are often under layers of concrete, and the app has no manual override to say I'm actually here.

I spent 30 minutes walking across multiple lanes of traffic trying to get my phone's reported GPS location into the zone on the map.

Do #lyft PMs actually use #lyft?

#Lyft just suddenly started asking me for ID 5 years after being a user.
Rideshare in other countries (e.g. Bolt in West Africa) also requires IDs for riders. Though to be fair, they have an option to pay with cash

#Lyft announced that they now use #OpenStreetMap (instead of #Google #Maps) as their database. No big surprise for us, but nice to see another company switch.

You can find their press release here, but there is not much actual content there. Summarized: it's cheaper, flexible, easier to edit and now they can actually _fix_ issues that google maps won't.
