Now that is kind of rapey because if you get a woman drunk and she participates sexual activity, It is considered rape. So by that logic, women knowingly titillating men and using them for favour should also be considered rape.

These are some important points Jim, though in practice I expect it is never all paternal choice. I believe in patriarchy and that fathers can arrange marriages, but historically, I am sure Dad frequently took his girl’s wishes into account when it was time to choose a mate, and to some extent, it must be so if the spouses‘ vows are a form of consent.

And, at the same time, I think peacock tails would be an indication that women want what they want to some good end, even if one they aren’t aware of. Hypergamy is treated like a dirty word in my experience, as only a cause of woe, but I see it as only an instinctual mirror of the man’s desire for more mates, and so healthy and even helpful. Given the nature of reproduction, it’s understandable to believe that good women are hard to come by because a few men have monopolized them, but from what I’ve read this is a fallacy. In this Counter-Currents piece, I read that in Japan there‘s a higher portion of female virgins under age 34—44.2%—than among males—42.0% (see footnote). https://counter-currents.com/2024/04/notes-on-japan-not-the-nationalist-utopia-some-imagine/ That may be an extreme case, but while men have a higher natural incentive to be promiscuous, women can be so picky about their men that many of them are choosing to stay sexually inactive, rather than fool around with lesser mates. It’s better serve a good purpose by bending the instintcs toward it than to have to oppose them, when it can be helped, and I think if it were easier and seen as morally good for several women to marry a single desirable mate, many ills would begin to be cured. There are always going to be some really unattractive, vicious guys no woman or her father would ever choose, so “full employment” of women can only ever be achieved if there is some polygyny; in a time when social engineering makes us all so shy and timid, and when single women are the prime constituency for left-liberalism, having plural marriage as an option is even more pressing.

You can see that I’ve argued for plural marriage extensively if you have the leisure, but I think your point about women making bad choices deserves a particular response. As I do not believe in forcible eugenics, I limit what means are ethically available, but I think even a cursory reevaluation of custom and law presents many changes that should obviously happen. For an example dear to my heart:

Student-teacher romance has always fascinated and excited me, yet it is something that is almost always seen as scandalous, with plenty of social and especially legal trouble for instructors who get caught. Isn‘t this the antipodean opposite of what should happen, knowing what we know? Great stock is placed in fostering intelligence through schooling, yet I have often read estimates that 80% of intelligence is hereditary, and given how private school students regularly outperform public schoolers despite lower per pupil spending, I have often wondered why we bother treating schooling as a public good at all anymore. Yet, something is staring us in the face here: think of how many schoolgirls there are, who are not gonna become college material no matter how many special classes they take, yet they could bear kids who were significantly smarter, if they fell for a hot teacher and he got her pregnant.

Imagine what a great effect there would be, if only all laws and customs preventing student-teacher romance were abolished? Teachers already have to have above average intelligence, I should hope, just the thing we always despair of getting women to like.

But we should go much further: teaching at schools, then become a more appealing job already, could be decided by a Mandarinate-style rigorous examination meant to weed out all but those with high intelligence. For men at least, it would be important that only the best taught at boarding schools, and the 1% best of the best, they could teach at all-girls schools. Imagine if there were plenty of perks and amenities: provided on/near campus housing, quarters for several wives, and even soapland-style baths. And of course, marrying a teacher and becoming a homemaker or dorm mother on graduation would be seen as an honorable, even coveted career path for young women. Even without compulsion, simply through ease of access and lack of competition, even a tepidly attractive instructor could attract a bride or two, while naturally favored faculty could amass quite the harem. There is something entrancing in a teacher and pupil sharing a passion for a subject, and no doubt, it would lead to many lifelong bonds—and incidentally, do much more for the general intelligence than any reform of the method of, rather than what is allowed with the personnel giving, instruction.

And more like that. I think, if we have one thing to learn from this intensively administrative and bureaucratic era, it is how much can be accomplished by the art of the nudge.
