For many years @atoponce I have been watching YouTube videos by downloading them first, using #YouTubeDL. The website is unfortunately down very recently, because of a legal action in Germany.

You can also use one of the #Invidious services, to watch it in a web browser without tracking by Alphabet corp.

The article is unclear on this, but the lawsuit appears to by Sony Entertainment, Warner Music Group, and Universal Music, filed at the district court of Hamburg.

Time for Google to step up and declare whether it is for good, or has sided with the evil of copyright absolutists.
