so much technology and automation has been invented and deployed in last two decades, yet things are still as expensive as before. by now, everything should be cheap as fuck and universal standards of living should be tenfold of what they were in 2000, but i do not feel any different now than i did back then. i think the wages adjusted for inflation have been stagnant since the time of Rome. literally nothing has changed for humanity. we're stuck in the same place, unable to move forward.

@Justicar Things that don't matter are cheaper than ever. Microprocessors went from costing hundreds of dollars to being so cheap we put them in disposable e-cigs. Meanwhile, food, energy, and housing costs have ballooned. Turns out the masses just want cheap entertainment and the bare minimum to physically survive.

@RegalBeagle i could have bought great sneakers for 15€ 20 years ago. today, it is 10x. paychecks have not 10x in last two decades. coca cola, snickers bar or magnum ice cream doubled their price in last 20 years. so the inflation hits different things differently. it still pisses me off. but i would say food keeps with real wages the closes because it is what people are most sensitive to.

@RegalBeagle correction, good sneakers are about 80€, so "only" 5x

@Justicar If you count the processed garbage at the super market as food, maybe, but real food has risen at a similar rate. Normies just look to sustain and be entertained, so they don't particularly care.
