People blame punk dudes in tuner cars and monster trucks but I think most terrible headlights are being sold to the aging boomer caste. Their eyes are less flexible as they age, so they can’t accommodate focusing as quickly or easily, light acuity probably goes too.

Since boomers are the only ones with money to market to, you end up with an arms race of brightness because every buyer of a $50k+ car is old as hell
