people are doing normal life stuff because they see the rot, but no leaders talk about the real rot stuff, so they see no route to do anything.

That reply is accurate in that they don't think at all about this stuff and/or just don't possess the curiosity. They're also likely the folks who tell you "That'll never happen." because it hasn't happened.
@Mommy A lot of people have had the curiosity beaten out of them by this system, so they look at bad things and say "yeah, thats trouble, I'm not going to touch it"
@Mommy Every time I see a "see something say something" sign, I'm reminded that this entire system has taught people "see something SHUT THE FUCK UP"
