Well, it was a much closer affair than our previous two tournament finals, but eventually Fio Germi managed to secure her place as the 2025 #BestVidyaGirlContest Champion!
While certainly something of a surprise winner, Fiolina definitely had a lot of things going for her, starting with her series: the core Metal Slug titles are very well-regarded among gamers, and on Fedi they seem to have pretty much escaped the kind of Censorship- or shitlib Propaganda controversies that so many mainstream gaming series are plagued with today. At the same time, Metal Slug remains relevant to this day - Metal Slug Tactics came out less than a year ago, and was pretty well-received. Moreover, during this year’s contest I’d argue that Fio has been the only vidya girl to enjoy the support of not just one, but TWO Super-fans (LevantSavant and DRC’s own Admin), who have ensured that the bespectacled babe always dominates her match threads, and also ends up out-Lewding every single opponent (even Tifa!).
Fio Germi herself is certainly attractive, distinct and memorable in terms of design – and apparently very few people on Fedi mind the glasses. She’s generally depicted as quite busty and effortlessly feminine, but Fio’s role as a gun-totin’ action heroine gives her plenty of tomboy cred as well. And OF COURSE Second Amendment-loving Americans will naturally be drawn to a girl who knows how to handle both a cock AND a Glock.
Additionally, she’s frequently paired with another very attractive girl (Eri Kasamoto), lending Fio access to Eri’s blonde bombshell bod AND a lot of sexy 2-girl pictures whenever it’s time for her fans to shill her. And there doesn’t seem to be any destructive rivalry between the girls (helped by the Italian easily being the more of the two on Fedi, as showed by Fio spanking Eri during their 2023 bonus match), which ensures that the Metal Slug fanbase is unified behind Fio and spares the Italian girl unnecessary anti-votes - which she barely ever seems to receive, period, even when pulling off comebacks far more suspicious than anything my Pyra has done, or when Fio pictures dominate the Fedi timeline far more than girls who ACTUALLY get bashed for picture spam. On the note of Fio being Italian tho – honestly, this seems to be one of her biggest strengths. It’s also a naturally Meme-friendly country, being the home of Pizza, Spaghetti and Super Mario!
And as if that wasn’t enough, on our corner of Fedi the boot-shaped country also greatly benefits from being known as the Birthplace of Fascism, and the land ruled by Il Duce himself, Benito Mussolini. While not quite a Fedi hero on par with Hitler, the Only Good Journalist to ever live is still tremendously appreciated and respected here. We’ve already seen a Meme Italian like Tifa greatly benefit from her Italian Senate misadventures (again, it’s the only reason she beat 2B in round 2), so it shouldn’t be a surprising that a Real Italian like Genoa-born Fiolina ends up drawing a tremendous amount of strength from her motherland. I think only a Russian vidya girl could hope to benefit as much from her country of origin as Fio has, given Russia’s reputation for stunning beauties AND the seething hatred GloboHomo kikes harbor towards the Russian Bear.
