Old FNAF just felt so different. Originally Freddy's was clearly some rotting pizzeria is Ohio or Michigan or somewhere, with hints of a dark past of child murder and hauntings. Modern Freddy's is a massive sci-fi conglomerate co-founded by a mad scientist who collected children's souls in order to become immortal, a conglomerate that despite being seemingly nonexistent for 30-40 years somehow managed to show back up with enough money to create a mall sized entertainment facility with a bunch of robots so advanced that they are pretty much alive.
