But also the "sugar in the gas tank" meme is from a very long time ago. Modern engines, fuel filters, tank design, and fuel filler necks almost completely negate the meme of "pour sugar in his tank to seize their engine." That's not a thing.
First the sugar doesn't dissolve and sinks to the bottom of the tank. Secondly modern fuel filters, fuel pumps and tanks are designed to filter out debris / sediment.
Second, at BEST sugar would gum up injectors causing a lack power but not catastrophic engine damage. Even then it's mitigated by all the things I suggested above. Bosch did a study on this in the mid 90's.
