I get the feeling that most of these agencies threw away all their radio stuff once cell phones became the main mode of communication. Radio operation is a lost art, even within institutions that should (in theory) be well versed in the subject
@synapsid@deprecated_ii None of it has been thrown away, but the human capital to actually use it has eroded. There's less amateur radio operators every year and the know-how to set up a repeater and maintain a net is a dying art.
