Coming up in January is TikTok vs the USA, and I sort of dont see it going very well for the country thats declared corporations are not only people, but have a right to free speech.

There has been a hastily constructed effort lately to build the case the USA really really cares about social media privacy domestically, but the facts laid bare are that congress snored through 20 years of domestic techbros and knew of no problems with privacy.

Then theres the complete lack of any evidence. The PRC isnt using tiktok for espionage (but it could!) Is a shitty argument for policing it.

My prediction is tiktok will win its case and the usa will be forced to draft privacy legislation not only for Chinese social media but for its own golden geese.

The USAs worst nightmare: a level playing field in the tech space.
