Mikhail Gorbachev was a very interesting politician in the USSR. He loved the USSR and as an idealist, he thought human kindness and honesty can save it. Unfortunately for him, he hardly understood how horrible the USSR was for the average person or oppressed countries. So, despite his best wishes no one wanted to support his plan and give the USSR a 2nd chance.
