i'm thinking that this is the evolution of a world that basically discovered black magic and made it into a playing card game, which allows basically anyone to fuck with magic as a game using convenient cards, as per the original series

like, this shit is basically a story about summoning wizards that summon monsters (through normal summoning, but also through ritual magic, fusion energy, synchro energy, xyz energy, pendulums, links, etc) and invoke magic (spells, traps) in a dystopian cyberpunk world with cool motorcycles

sometimes you forget how crazy stories can be yet somehow still be pretty damn cool

star wars is basically space wizards with laser swords in a galaxy controlled by an ancient evil that also has robots, spaceships, clone soldiers with guns, bounty hunters and wild west shit, alongside samurai...
i missed yugioh doing this crazy stuff

it was more like dungeons and dragons, kinda? back in the day

wish they'd bring back environmental mechanics into the game, would be cool as fuck

Yu-Gi-Oh Marathon

bro summoned the moon and destroyed it to win the game

i want this crazy shit back in my yugioh

re: Yu-Gi-Oh Marathon

that's naruto

re: Yu-Gi-Oh Marathon

this guy's also autistic

not literally, but like, imagine that a video-essayist-personality is one of the first major villains in a show

somehow is funny like that

re: Yu-Gi-Oh Marathon

"fuck westaboos"
-seto kaiba

re: Yu-Gi-Oh Marathon

gotta admire how skilled the artists are to draw these good ass hands

re: Yu-Gi-Oh Marathon

i wonder if part of the reason the west likes to censor japanese media is because they can fill up the missing runtime with more ads, meaning more money

re: Yu-Gi-Oh Marathon

you know what? pegasus is based

re: Yu-Gi-Oh Marathon

i'm starting to understand the american stereotypes now

"goddamn"
"shit"
"fuck"

basically anytime an american speaks, it's a yankee accent with at least one cuss for an expression

re: Yu-Gi-Oh Marathon

would you all?

re: Yu-Gi-Oh Marathon

omg he foreshadowed 5d's this early in the series

re: Yu-Gi-Oh Marathon

dungeon dice monsters feels like a really cool game, especially compared to modern duel monsters

the dnd charm of the original made it so much better, but kinda got removed as the series went on

which is a shame

re: Yu-Gi-Oh Marathon

damn.

i actually forgot what's it's like to even play a game and to become friends with people because it was so much fun

i'm so used to friendships fading away so quickly that a game is just a momentary pleasure, nothing more

this old ass anime is teaching me shit i've since forgotten

re: Yu-Gi-Oh Marathon

look at all these breedable girls

re: Yu-Gi-Oh Marathon

personally i think kathy would be more breedable if the nose part of her wasn't strange?

for some reason, it doesn't look quite right for me, makes it more animal-like than cute loli

which, funnily enough, feels similarly to how i designed wolfy, but i designed him to be ugly rather than attractive

re: Yu-Gi-Oh Marathon

fucker's cards are floating above his hands

re: Yu-Gi-Oh Marathon

i get the feeling that, in the early point of the series, tribute summoning was the same as ritual summoning, but it changed so you had to sacrifice monsters to advance summon higher level monsters

i'm not sure why the game changed so you had to tribute summon monsters

re: Yu-Gi-Oh Marathon

he's not black

re: Yu-Gi-Oh Marathon

look at all those breedable monsters

re: Yu-Gi-Oh Marathon

does dark magician girl technically count as a monster girl?

re: Yu-Gi-Oh Marathon

the girl's version of dueling

re: Yu-Gi-Oh Marathon

TRIPLET SISTER PUSSY TACO

re: Yu-Gi-Oh Marathon

god, we actually lost a hero

the man whose creativity and talent made a censorship-happy country cave in more times than not

re: Yu-Gi-Oh Marathon

the very first instance of tribute summoning higher monsters is on episode 54

and it's because of some new rules that suddenly appeared out of nowhere

re: Yu-Gi-Oh Marathon

...you know what, i'm guessing tribute summoning was introduced so that god cards weren't overpowered as shit

imagine being able to summon a god without any tributes, plop the fucker on the field with all of its effects

re: Yu-Gi-Oh Marathon

:sob_drawn: siscon

re: Yu-Gi-Oh Marathon

you know, with the advent of AI technology and chatbots, i think we might be able to play duelist kingdom duel monsters and the DnD bullshit that came along with it

because AI can act as a dungeon master for two duelists and kinda help the roleplay go on

it would be cool if we could play duelist kingdom yu-gi-oh... i know it's basically middle school rules, but still...

re: Yu-Gi-Oh Marathon

i haven't played yu-gi-oh in forever, but i'm pretty sure there's about several hundred to deal with exodiafags

re: Yu-Gi-Oh Marathon

would've been nice if ritual would've been included in the mix

regular/ritual/fusion/synchro(and dark synchro as well)/xyz

always wondered what an amalgamation monster type would look like and they dropped ritual

and because vrains doesn't deal with z-arc, we don't even get to tack on a link monster

re: Yu-Gi-Oh Marathon

i think this is the first time the "shadow world" (realm) is ever actually mentioned in the original anime

re: Yu-Gi-Oh Marathon

@ninja8tyu I heard shadow realm was used instead of death because you know card game. However introducing an entirely new dimension called the shadow realm opens a whole new possibilities for ideas in writing.
