Disclosure here on me... I did it once when I was maybe 10 years old. It was an Atari game cartridge. I got caught. Never did it again.
I did have friends or people in our group growing up who constantly did it.

@SiRrogueKnight Damn I’ve stolen so many cookies at lunch by putting them under the tray at school during checkout. I should’ve put more than a dozen times.
At the restaurant I worked at in the dish room when I was in high school, if you made the Sundays, it was morning to afternoon. They were closed. We were clean-up crew. I got all my booze from there... a bit out of every bottle behind the bar.
I refuse to categorize that as stealing, because we got paid in cash (under the table), so the restaurant wasn't paying for us as employees. And on Sundays, they had us dump grease pit sludge directly into the sewer... HIGHLY illegal.

My buddies used to steal comic books from the guy who ran the comic book and candy, snack, and whatever shop on Main Street. They would slip one comic inside a comic book, to get two.
My one buddy once got shamed by the owner (never did ti again), who said, "I know what some kids do here. I just want to make a nice place for the kids around here."
There were three back booths where we would hang out and chat between coming home from school and going home.
