F-35'S BRAKE SYSTEM PROBLEMS MAKE PENTAGON SPENDING SKYROCKET The Pentagon is spending another $100 million simply because the F-35’s brakes are literally overheating and damaging the jet’s sensitive electronics. In a newly awarded contract with Lockheed Martin, the Department of Defense has ordered 1,459 specialized heat sinks for the braking system to prevent excessive heat from migrating into nearby avionics wiring and sensors.
