Another one I liked about the revolution itself was The Bolsheviks Come to Power by Alexander Rabinowitch.
Getting through all three volumes of Das Kapital is a monumental feat. If you just want to understand where Marx was coming from though, his earlier works are much more accessible, like On The Jewish Question:
