Understood. Hopefully he gets a proper eulogy as the conductor who gave his life trying to do the fare checker's job.
Not the hero Germany deserved, but the one they needed, I suppose.
No seriously, fare evasion is actually treated quite seriously in Germany, and everyone who paid for their ticket will watch with great satisfaction when a fare dodger gets what’s coming to them.
Now, if only we’d approach immigration with the same spirit…
