Good rule of thumb for best colleges/professions: male dominated fields that are difficult to do, involving lots of math, abstract thinking (creativity) and good experience with real world applications.
Not many colleges offering those since you need competent teachers.
@[email protected] @[email protected] you dont need college unless you need some certificate to do a certain job

Trade school is good but the location where you set up influence your success a lot.
To go pro in tennis you have to start early...really early, like 5, latest 8 years old. He might be too old already.
@[email protected] @[email protected] just make sure you have room in your basement for him. 🤣
@cbrooklyn112 @Zeb we like this one, it’s him that will be wanting to get away from us I think.
@maxburn @cbrooklyn112
Well, I wish you two the best of luck but the fact he needs a scholarship to go to college makes the decision easier. Those aren't easy to come by, specially to men - even harder if he's white (which I assume he is since he plays tennis).
Trade school is good but I would recommend he doesn't stop there: doing robotics, engineering or advanced electronics would complement it very well. Nuclear science and biotech will be big in the next years too.
@Zeb @cbrooklyn112 so many nudges in that direction he’s probably annoyed. But baseline anything in the intersection of computers and the real world will be money in the future. I’m in the HVAC controls space myself.
@maxburn @cbrooklyn112
Nice! I'm in that intersection as well as programmer of embedded systems for robotics (mostly heavy machinery).
Automation will boom even more and, if i was young, I would go into cybernetic snd biotechnology, maybe even medicine. The demand is too massive.
Let's see what he decides to do. The good thing is you don't need to be a top player to make good money as a pro tennis player,you just got to have a good agent and good publicity management team.
@Zeb @cbrooklyn112 that’s been discussed but he’s going to give it a shot anyway. He stated at about 12. The college thing depends heavily upon a scholarship, I’m not sure we can afford it otherwise. There will be decisions made we are not a party to that directs his path.
