@Zeb Work culture/feminism. The average Japanese worker is overworked and has barely any time to socialize and find a girl. On top of that, with (((feminism))) slithering it's tendrils into Japanese society over the last decade, it's going to make this harder for them.
It's more sad than anything. Many young Japanese men would have been great fathers.
