Pretty much. It's an insane hormonal crash after they've been pregnant for 9 months (high on estrogen, progesterone and a milluon other things that the baby needs) and the high from the drugs that were pumped into her system during childbirth also affects them a lot.
Intelligent design maybe because women are driven to have at least one man by her side to take care of her during this time. That's the role of the testosterone she gets, give her the sex drive to get the man.

Probably also affected by terrible American diets and (lack of) exercise (generally, and before the birth, not during recovery).
Did these women take good quality pre-natal vitamins and eat real food?

Come on man...you know they don't. Americans in general have an awful diet, women specially (due to their pathetic willpower and lack of disciplin).
But you touched a good point: pre-natal care. The diverse/female doctor probably prescribed her the wrong vitamins and there's a high chance she gave her anti-depressants, which makes her hormones even worse...specially when she forgets to take them (due to the mentioned lack of discipline).
The system is criminal.
