I have a feeling Trump is going to be remembered as the too-little-too-late reformer, a bit like Gorbachev.

* Many blame him for the collapse
* That's not a serious assessment among historians though
* General consensus is that he tried to turn things around
* He had some good policies and some bad policies
* But it's generally believed that his biggest failure was the simple fact that he was 50 years late

I would take Trump's firing employees with a grain of salt.
He is firing employees who are not align to his policy (the anti-semites) so he can replace them with loyal zionist.
Why I think so? Because he is changing the employees but he's not closing/cancelling any of the agencies (like doge tried to do). Eventually he might even expand their powers.

It's like the Stalin purges, but instead of removing bolsheviks, he will install them for the glory of Israel.

He's not doing *nothing*.

H1Bs are down, net number of US residents of foreign birth is down, government employees are down.

Also the tariffs are pretty significant.

All of these things are the things one would do if one wanted to get control over the affordability crisis, and he's doing them to a really unprecedented extent.

And then all of the Israel and Iran stuff, he's certainly going to be judged harshly for what he does in that arena.

IMO it's a mixed story.
