And it was held up as a great crime against humanity, that girls as young as 15 were assigned husbands, and were bred by them. As far as I recall, the pairings were presented as monogamous and permanent.
Looking back, that's pretty tame. And what's more, the imposition of marriage (usually by natural circumstance in the absence of welfare), ➡️
I don't think the state should orchestrate such a thing, ideally... But when viewed against the alternatives (as presented here)... It's far from the worst thing ever.
