For years the Iranian regime threatened to close the Strait of Hormuz if it was attacked.... so the (unintended) consequence of the US/Israeli attacks on Iran, was firstly to force the Iranians to make good on that threat, but once having done so, to realise quite how effective a geopolitical 'weapon' it is....

So the Tangerine Tyrant has willed closure of the Strait into existence & it seems unlikely the Iranians will be as reticent to use closure as they may have been in the past.

@ChrisMayLA6 Wait !! Trump is talking about a regime change. That's why this ceasefire.

We're likely to see a new government in lran in May.

@codewizard

But even so, now that the Iranians know they have this 'weapon' to hand, and regime will have its back pocket

@ChrisMayLA6 @codewizard That's why it is important that the world, as a whole, let the bombs, embargos and financial restrictions and boycotts rain as soon as the iranians even think of using it.

I could imagine that the world might construct a missile shield in Oman as well.

If not, from time to time, as you say, the iranians will close. Should they ever produce nukes, the game is up, and all iranians will be more or less enslaved under a hereditary ruler forever.

@h4890

Hmmm.... I ithnk @codewizard is right on the Iranian regime seeing this as a potential (less exposing?) defence alternative to nuclear capability.

How this plays out for ordinary Iranians is another matter altogether

@ChrisMayLA6 @codewizard I'm pretty certain that, as always, the highest price in terms of death and taxes, will be paid by the regular iranian on the street. No one cares about them.

@ChrisMayLA6 @[email protected] Trump's not supposed to be the Jesus Christ for the Iranians.

I need to fight for my democratic rights no matter who's there in power.

Bombing doesn't produce any solution for any problem !!!🤕🤕
