I agree with Teachers that education has become too obsessed with exams (including universities where exams are uses to combat the corrosive use of AI), not least as it results in an anti-humanist education, but blaming schools for not preparing young people for work (and rise in economic inactivity among the young), approaches victim blaming;

the problem reflects the UK's low-wage economy, where workers are seen as a cost & not invested in.

@ChrisMayLA6 Well, note that one reason for that is also lack of resources in schools. I test with exams, and ideally, in some courses, with projects. But the school constantly reduces the budget, my available hours, and that leads to more exams (which can be corrected automatically) and less projects.
