The BBC is reporting that many hotels in the USA are not seeing the demand for rooms during the FIFA World Cup that they expected, citing the political environment, rising costs associated with the conflict in the Middle East & transport costs.... but what is missing from this report is the rise in hotel prices associated with the World Cup that was reported earlier this year.

This looks like basic economics; hotels put up their prices, demand fell!

@ChrisMayLA6 Well, it certainly doesn't help tourism to read about all the crazy interrogation at the US border. Granted, this only happens to 0.00001% of all tourists, but since people are not capable to reason around probability, I imagine that this has discouraged a few million people at least from traveling to the US.

Indeed; the fear that is intended to act as a deterrent is (unfortunately for US tourism) rater unfocussed as to its effects
