This always brings to mind an observation from @thefinn that Americans seem unique in their interest in religious cults/fanaticism. I extended this, musing, that perhaps there is a genetic component to this since so much of our European stock left Europe due to extreme religious or political reasons (and of course the defeat of The South in the Civil War did not help). For as many times as I've posted on that it doesn't have a lot of appeal even here so perhaps I should rethink it.🤔
Anyway, it's worth remembering too that negro worship was in full swing here more than 100 years ago with BigAg pushing Mrs. Butterworth as the sales icon for food and George Washington Carver as the lawn jockey put up by Southern farmers to make peanut tariffs appealing.

The ones who could work and innovate left europe, where kings and corruption ruled, to a country where this was not entrenched. Fast forward 150 years and it's the wealthiest country on the planet.
Sadly this advantage has been diluted quite a lot the past 50-90 years or so, I fear.

@EvilSandmich @Kalogerosstilitis2RevengeoftheJunta @thefinn This is very sad, but at the same time, natural. Industrialists and businessmen follow the path of least resistance. I started my business in eastern europe and not in western europe because the taxes were about 4x lower. This has benefitted me enormously! Sadly the east has not learned its lesson and taxes are slowly starting to creep up to western european levels. If the trend continues, I'll have to move again in a few years.
