Germany started this week, says Dirk Kurbjuweit in Der Spiegel feeling “horror”. How did the far-right AfD win the state election in Saxony-Anhalt by a landslide only 80 years after the atrocities of WW II. The AfD’s Ulrich Siegmund was surrounded with right-wing extremists and failed to distance himself from supporters harassing journalists or giving the Hitler salute. With these people now “on the threshold of power”, Germany faces nothing less than “the end of liberal democracy”.
@kibcol1049 What do pundits theorize might happen if American and German right-wing groups prevail: is it likelier that they feud, or collaborate with each other?

Mainstream politicians have become the new nobility, wealthy beyond imangination and corrupt to the core. They do not give a d*mn about the voter, and that is when you get AfD, a peoples movement.

Of course AfD is not directly the same as NSDAP, otherwise they'd already banned it from existence. Then again masses of people will not recognize nazis unless they march in brown uniforms
