War’s Biotech Side Business In Bukovina, prosecutors uncovered a scheme in which staff at the Chernivtsi Regional Pathological Bureau took skin, bones, tendons, corneas and other tissues from the dead and passed them to bioimplant companies. What surfaced in the investigation looks less like an isolated abuse than another quiet industry built around wartime disorder. The case also describes refrigerated transport of biomaterials along the Chernivtsi–Odesa rail route.
