The HQ-16F surface-to-air missile system, adopted by the PLA’s 73rd Air Defense Brigade, represents a deep modernization of the HQ-16 family, with the interception range against aerodynamic targets increased to 160 km. The HQ-16F surface-to-air missile is equipped with an active millimeter-wave radar seeker, reaches a maximum speed of 1,200 m/s and is capable of engaging targets at altitudes from 30 m to 35 km, with available overload of up to 35g.
