"Today we protested the American Academy of Pediatrics convention over their support of “gender affirming care” of kids.
The AAP Concention is in Denver this year, and I was so glad to be joined by old friends, Jeanna Hoch and Yolanda Alicia Edwards. I was also glad to make new friends, like Adam who was representing DIAG Democrats and Nancy who was representing Women's Declaration International USA.
We did get a little push back. Adam and Nancy were shocked that as soon as I arrived with my sign, No one is born in the wrong body, a pediatrician walking by flipped me off!
I wasn’t surprised. When people follow gender ideology, they have nothing but lies. They have nothing else to go on.
We had many people who thanked us for being there. Some just nodded, gave us a thumbs up, etc. Others stopped to talk with us. They had questions and they had stories to tell.
Gender ideology truly destroys families.
We had a few people who had to cancel last minute, which meant we had more signs than people. I brought ten signs with me from home. The extras, we taped to a fence that was surrounding an outdoor eating area. People stopped and took pics. It was great…until the cafe told us we had to move our signs. 🙄
That ended up with us taping them up in even more visible locations.
For all the talking we did, there were many we didn’t necessarily interact with. But being there, pushing back against “gender ideology,” is so important.
After the protest, I went back to my room to put my signs away. Then I went to dinner with Jeanna and Yolanda. In the elevator down to the lobby, two women got into the elevator with me. One of them asked what my bracelets said. The pink one says “Girls deserve fair sports” and the red one says, “No one is born in the wrong body.”
She had recognized me from the protest and my bracelets confirmed it for her. I told her I’d come from Seattle to protest “gender ideology” and she thanked me for being there. I told her about 5599, because most people outside of Washington don’t know how bad it really is here.
That conversation was worth it. And for every person that passed us by that we didn’t get to speak with, how many are just like that doctor in the elevator?
The time to boldly speak against “gender ideology” is right now. Every kid needs us to speak out against this."
