I want all westoids to listen carefully: your governments, no matter what tie color or party, will never represent your interests in the current system because it was never their purpose. They are a colonial administration put in place to represent overseas interests and extract a tithe of sugar and spice (taxes and everything in the country you can sell off or privatize) as well as recruit janissaries for their wars all while ensuring you will not threaten their rule, including through direct replacement of your native population by an uprooted and more malleable one. They care as much about your opinion and your problems as does the homeowner for the opinion and problems of the ants in his backyard.
The police are not secretly on your side and never will be, they will enforce every order they are given because in doing so they get to hold the truncheon instead of being under it. They are not your fellow countrymen, they are the enforcers of a distant hostile nobility voluntarily manning the guard posts of the concentration camp you call a country. They are the black and tans, and you're the Irish catholic in a nation-sized Belfast.
There is no voting this away, actual change and the chance at a better future does rest in your hands but it will never come from a ballot, nor will it from haplessly holding a cardboard sign one weekend afternoon. I will leave it at that so as not to veer into fedpost territory and on this note, goodnight.
