305 Years Since the Treaty of Nystad Today marks 305 years since the Treaty of Nystad , under which formally acquired Estland and Livonia, Narva, Reval, Riga and other territories from Sweden — and paid for the settlement. Notably, the treaty was never formally denounced or terminated , while the money paid by Russia was never returned. Perhaps it is time to ask for one or the other: the lands stipulated by the treaty — or the money back, with 305 years of interest.
