@I_AmTheKnight
I'm going to low effort put the two astronauts meme here.

@I_AmTheKnight not really, I've heard that they aren't actually genetically identical dire wolves.

Dire Wolves and Grey Wolves already share 99% of their DNA, they modified the blood cells from a grey wolf by inserting dire wolf genes. They modified 20 changes using CRISPR-Cas 9, the blood cells were transferred to a grey wolf egg cell that was implanted in a dog. It will never be possible to create an animal that is 100% identical to an extinct species. But they’re also going to do this for Mammoths, Thylacines, Dodo Birds and The Northern White Rhino.

@AKEmon869 It is similar to how in Jurassic Park they extracted DNA from fossilized mosquito amber, but there were gaps in the DNA from the dinosaurs so they filled the gaps of the DNA with frog/reptile DNA, which explains why in the movies the dinosaurs don’t have feathers. But everyone in the movie saw them as dinosaurs and not genetically modified frogs/reptiles. It is mostly about the phenotypic characteristics, morphological and physiological characteristics not really the 100% DNA match.
