yesterday i realised that even though i am a liberal, pro-capitalist, anti-socialist, anti-authority, freedom being my highest value, the modern capitalism has went too far. this is why we are having low quality products. companies are pushing consumerism to squeeze profits. in the past, you would buy shoes or a fridge that would outlast you. nowadays, they break down a year after and it is cheaper to buy new ones than to repair them. this is solely because the companies do not care about
making good and long-lasting products, building brand name recognition for generations to come and have long lasting presence. all they care are profits and they want them now. this is caused solely by removing private ownership of companies, usually held by a family, instead we have incorporated approach and company stocks where investors demand profits and have no investment in the company beyond the cost of the stock. investors rotate daily, there is no relationship with the company or
in general, but something needs to be done about how corporations work. i think that sooner or later there will be a breaking point with all the cheap crap flooding the market and consumerism being essentially part of the modern culture and identity. i think this is even more important than women voting and feminism because of the impact such a reform would have.
