I installed Linux mint on an old computer about a year ago and have been getting along well with it. I really need to get away from globohomo software. I just found that Microsoft changes your privacy settings back to default after major updates. I don't suppose this should be a surprise for a company that wanted to bring us the clot shot.
@SamHarris i ripped out all the guts related to windows defender and i have a firewall that blocks the background services(like windows update) so i update only when "I" want. so far no problems. but i will definitely not be going to w11. i will either survive until w12 and see how it fares or move to linux as well. gaming is now possible, i no longer need adobe sw so i should be fine. i think that microsoft windows will lose its prime one day, just like google will lose the android market.
@Justicar I don't see how W12 will be any better regards privacy. It's only going to get worse with anything globohomo related.
@SamHarris there is a chance they will get too much backlash about the spying and technical issue whilst also seeing plummeting sales, which might prompt them to take a different direction and turn w11 into another windows millennium, windows 8, windows longhorn, windows vista. it's not like all their windows verisons were a success. actually it is the opposite - win95, win95, win2k(servers), win xp, win 7, win 10 were only successful windows. so their success rate is about 50:50.
@Justicar Some governments have stopped using it
@SamHarris actually i would like if FreeBSD would become the new alt OS as that is a full system("distribution"), unlike linux. so everything is included and works flawlessly. there is a ton of money being poured into server versions(netflix for example) and sony uses it in playstation and they too sponsor a lot of money.
