U.S. Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth has ordered hundreds of U.S. military generals & admirals to gather on short notice, & without a stated reason, at a Marine Corps base in Virginia next week.

Hegseth's unprecedented meeting will include top commanders currently based in conflict zones & senior military leaders stationed throughout Europe, the Middle East and the Asia-Pacific

Everyone with the rank of Brigadier General or above is expected to attend.

Senior Pentagon correspondent: 'I've never seen anything like this in my past 30 years of reporting on the U.S. military. We might be going to war.'

@elston_ maybe they are finally going to dismantle their worldwide net of military bases to cut down spending?

@Justicar

I suppose that's another possibility. But Trump calling on Afghanistan to return Bagram kind of counters that thinking. Time will tell.

@elston_ true but i heard he might have been forced to say that(supposedly the UK might have their hands in it). as it was he who was initially responsible for the withdrawal of the US forces. biden just, badly, executed it. so it makes little sense. not to mention the base was built by soviets, so his claim to return it to those who built it might be a doublespeak. who knows with him. but i would not pay much attention to it. there is ZERO chance it will end up in US hands by any means.
