I spent three years hitchhiking and jumping trains around the world with nothing but a tarp like this to sleep under. I wish I knew how to tie this knot back then.

Did you just use leaves in a trashbag to sleep on or did you have actual gear? (Pad/mat/bag/quilt)
What would you have done differently if you did it all over again?

I had a sleeping bag and would make some kind of pad underneath me if I could from cardboard or leaves. I often slept directly on cement. After doing that for three years, I never complain about a bed being uncomfortable.
