@Eleutheria2 @DEERBLOOD @Will2Power @Momther Spot on. I fucking hate cleaning out fryers. In fact I hate ALL the "maintenance" tasks at restaurants lol. Especially when it involves disassembling stuff and cleaning each part. Idk what it is, it's just so tedious.
There's a lot of things I'm fond of when it's the right kitchen. Back in summer 2020 I returned to the pizza place I worked during high school. I wasn't a manager but I felt like one sometimes because I was tardwrangling the new teenagers often. And taking home free food is the best "benefit" ever when you're young and live as a dependent. I love the feeling of finishing a hectic Friday/Saturday shift and waking up with that light soreness all over. And water tastes fucking incredible after a brutal 2hr rush.
What I hate about it is you never get weekends off, you're primarily working in the evenings (2nd shift is absolute trash imo), and obviously you get dirty. Pay and benefits are pretty lame too. When you're a kid it's far more tolerable. But as a proper adult I feel so behind my peers. Feels a bit shameful. Furthermore, it's impractical for adult life. No money and no evenings/weekends means no social or dating life. In the last 3-4 years I've given up on those, dating particularly, because it just isn't feasible. I'm hoping I can get back into that when I settle into the new job.
