The reason flip phones probably won't make a comeback is because there's no monetary incentive for phone service providers to carry them. Phone service providers make most of their money on selling on selling you an expensive data plan, which they can't do if you're only sending texts and making phone calls.

@monsterislandcolonizer Flip phones and smart phones run very similar proprietary carrier firmware that spies on you. Flip phones make for a cheap burner, but have no illusions that they spy on you any less than a smart phone. For phone privacy, I highly recommend using LineageOS or a similar FOSS ROM.
