@Escoffier Proper diet and exercise does wonders. I've helped one of my good friends almost completely reverse his type 2 diabetes by eliminating simple carbs and sugar from his diet.

@RegalBeagle Nice! My wife's A1c went from 11.5 to 4.5 in a matter of months after adopting a low carb diet

@Escoffier His doc said he'd never seen anyone come off insulin once he'd prescribed it. I've also heard talk of genetic carb disposition, like Asians processing rice better while Irish process potatoes better. No idea how true it is, but it sounds plausible.

@RegalBeagle I've had multiple docs tell me the same thing but oddly enough every doc that promotes low carb sees it all the time.Dr. Michael Eades who wrote Protien Power states clearly that with a low carb diet you will cease to be type 2 diabetic and your high blood pressure will fall.

I agree with the genetic racial angle except no one is really able to handle sugar. It's still so novel. It only seriously entered the human food supply in 1800
