I heard on a radio show long, long ago that some guy would routinely dress as a janitor, walk into bars, grab the neon signs and other stuff from the window and walk out -- and rarely would people even look at him.

"The trick is to look like you're supposed to be there doing what you're supposed to be doing. And if anyone bothers you, act mildly annoyed like you were being interrupted while doing your job."
