That's just the generational divide, isn't it. Boomers can't even comprehend working a job for peanuts with no upward mobility that doesn't give a shit about you, they haven't adapted any useful framework to deal with that. Tempted to hit them with "how long do you think he would need to work there to afford a house?" I don't think either of them has ever had a job where they couldn't get their own place in under ten years.
