I'm a regular companion to disappointment, but I feel like it's not entirely impossible that murdering a milquetoast 87 year old religious leader who is well-regarded by an entire Islamic sect and who is then replaced by the son of said murdered father might actually galvanize the region against Israel and not actually lead to regime change or a more moderate leadership.
