Metric was literally created to more efficiently shuttle illiterate agrarian peasants into factories because the only reliable way to make them not fuck up measurements was to use a system based on the number of fingers they had.

@Hoss @Terry one time I tried explaining why it is useful to have a super-divisible number like 12 or 60 as a base for counting things and that literal redditor could not and would not understand it.
