At the UN General Assembly, #Germany suffered a historic defeat. It failed to win a non-permanent seat on the Security Council for the 2027–2028 term. In the vote for two seats from the Western European and Other States (WEOG) group, #Berlin received 104 votes, significantly short of the required two-thirds majority (about 129). The victors were Portugal (134 votes) and Austria (131 votes). Zimbabwe, Trinidad and Tobago, and Kyrgyzstan were also elected.
