"(Junior) Developpers are getting screwed." - typecraft

I've been laid off by my company several months ago and there seems to be no room for junior devs to get work experience. Some recruiters phone calls here and there but once we get to showing my resume and portfolio to clients, they all systematically turn me down.

It's worrying honestly. I even tried charity work on Datakind but their project dashboard has been empty for months.

@Wopu you don't need a job in order to learn and not be considered a junior dev. 100% of my skill came from things i did for my self on my own time. Work stuff was just some noise i had to do to pay the bills. If you're not doing and learning things outside of your job, you chose a really bad career path and should reconsider your life choices.

@Justicar I'm working on personal projects publicly available on my Git page.

The field I'm working on is still growing in job offers but competition is fierce. Plus the AI frenzy is adding noise to demand but that's ok I'll stick to mastering the core skills then expand. Employers are dealing with too many candidates average in everything and are seeking those more specialized.

@Wopu you will always have better chance of landing a job in a smaller company rather than a big one. salary will be smaller but working in large corporations is a thing of its own.
