Oh and they are perpetuating the lie that Linux can't get malware and viruses. As soon as I see something like this I abandon their articles:

@RonV42 I haven't installed antiviruses on my Linux driver that I would come to need. The right practices usually spare you from downloading content from shady sources.

Package managers are insanely powerful on Linux, and there are also good ones on Windows (winget, scoop, chocolatey).

@Wopu That is the key the "right practices". Would the wife know to review a shell script before running to install software that isn't part of the package manager? That is my main concern is how to prevent damage that can be done by script kiddies

@RonV42 I'm afraid you'll have to do some babysitting if you're the tech guy within your family.

Backing up data for worst case scenarios, limit administrative rights and setting up guest accounts, etc.
